The Butterffly Appeal for About Face is a £250,00 appeal to create the About Face Centre supporting people from Devon, Wiltshire, Hampshire and Dorset who have cancer of the head and neck.
The Centre will offer a whole range of related resources for patients, their carers and their families as well as a reception and meeting room. It will also provide a state of the art medical research resource facility and short term accomodation for visiting trainee surgeons.
Young doctors in training at Poole come from across the UK and elsewhere in the world. When they get here they have nowhere to develop the micro surgical skills they need or to research this complex subject. The Butterfly Appeal will address this by developing a new surgical practice suite and research facility within the About Face Centre.
Several sucessful events in support of the Appeal including an exciting Overseas Trek, a Motor Sports Dinner and various sporting events have already taken place.

15 March: Concert at St Mary’s Parish Church, Poole - Mill Singers, Male Voice Choir
10-19 May: Inca Trail to Machu Piccu - an exceptional trek in the Andes
6-8 June: Trek Hadrian’s Wall from coast to coast in the Scottish Borders
In July: Poole Abseil - jointly with the Wish List team at Poole Hospital
About Face 5K Fun Run - 2nd year fun run with three generations
4 October: Crisp Walkers - walking club event, specifically for the Appeal

PAST EVENTS
LONDON TO PARIS BIKE RIDE 2007
The ride took place on 20–24 June 2007. Penny Harris and Ian Catley raised between them £3500. They cycled all the way to Paris from London and along with fellow cyclists, rode down the Champs Elysees, along the river Seine and arrived at the Tour Eiffel tired no doubt but with a great sense of achievement for the Butterfly Appeal!
NEW YEARS LUNCHEON
Our annual New Year Luncheon was held at the Miramar Hotel, Grove Road, Bournemouth on Sunday 21 January 2007.
BARN DANCE & SUPPER
Held at Twynham School, Christchurch, on Saturday evening 27 January 2007 and organised by Delm & Frances Burden, it was a great success...
MOUNT KILIMANJARO ASCENT
In March 2007, an adventurous supporter faced a once in a lifetime challenge and successfully ascended Mount Kilimanjaro in benefit of the Butterfly Appeal for About Face.
